Dua for Achieving Love of Allah Tala

This Dua is the one described in Hadith. Every Muslim should recite it with Great Enthusiasm to achieve the Love of Allah Tala. Imagine - the Lord of this Universe offering His Love to His servants. What an opportunity for us. O Allah Pour Your Blessing on Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam and His blessed Companions Who informed about You to us:

O Allah! Provide me Your Love and Provide me Their Love Whom You Love. Provide me the Deeds which reaches me to (i.e. attains) Your Love. O Allah! Make Your Love to me more Dear than my own self, wealth, family members and cold water. Ameen!

The Three Graves

One pious man describes, Once I saw three graves on a high place. In every grave there were some verses written.

On the first grave it was written: "The person who knows that one day he has to return to Allah Tala- answer for his deeds and would be rewarded or punished accordingly - How can he engage himself in the luxuries of this world?"

On the second grave it was written: "The person who believes that one day death will snatch away all his worldly belongings and all authority and make him a resident of grave - How can such person be absorb in sensual pleasures of this world to such high extent?"

On the third grave it was written: "The person who is well aware that one day it is a must that he has to reach the grave and all his youth, beauty and flesh in the body will disappear, on the reliance of what is he so engrossed in the worldly affairs so lavishly?"

Seeing this the pious man asked a Shaykh about these three graves. The Shaykh informed him that these three are the graves of three brothers. One was a soldier, one a businessman and another was a very pious and noble man. The Shaykh further described:

When the pious and noble man's death drew near, his two brothers brought a huge amount of money and asked him to make Sadaka. The noble brother replied, I do not need your money for Sadaka, however, you make a promise to me. And I hope you would keep the promise. Then he told them, After my death bury me on a high place and write these verses on my grave.
The Shaykh said, the first verses which you read are on the grave of that noble brother. The Shaykh continued, the noble brother also asked his two brothers to regularly visit his grave - at least once a day. After the death of the noble brother, his two brothers continued to do as their brother requested them to. On the third day of visiting the grave of the noble brother, his two brothers heard a very loud metallic noise. The soldier dreamt the noble brother at the very night and asked, what was that heavy sound in your grave dear brother? The noble brother replied, I was then being asked why I hadn't helped one needy, when he was oppressed.

This dream made the soldier very worried. In the morning he called his brother (the business man) and told him that he believes that the verses on their brother's grave are for teaching great lesson. The soldier resigned from his service and started absorbing him in worship of Allah Tala completely.

Then one day death of the soldier drew near. Upon the news of illness of his brother, the business man met him. He asked his ailing brother for some advice. The soldier replied, I do not have any wealth that I can make a will; however, I request you one thing. Bury me beside our brother and write these verses on my grave. The Shaykh continued, you have seen the verses on the second grave - that is the soldier's. Before the death the soldier requested his brother to visit his grave till three days regularly and asked him to make dua. After the death of the soldier, the businessman regularly started visiting the grave and on the third day he started weeping beside his brother's grave. Suddenly he heard a huge sound coming from the grave. Instantly he returned home very frightened. At night the soldier came to meet him in his dreams. The business man asked him, O dear brother have you come to meet us? The soldier replied, Is this the time to meet? I am living in my permanent residence. The business man asked his brother, How did Allah Tala receive you? The soldier replied, Allah Tala has blessed me with great pleasure. Man achieves great blessing through Tawba. The businessman asked him, where is our noble brother? The soldier replied, He is in the place of Pious Imams. The businessman asked, What should I do now? The soldier advised him, Whatever man send in the life hereafter from this world are received by him after death. Therefore, anticipate this life as valuable.

In the morning the business man woke up and made Tawba from all his sins. He then gave away all his wealth and absorbed in worshiping Allah Tala completely. His son then took control of the business he had. After some time his death drew near. His son came for advice. He advised his son to bury him near his two uncles and write some verses. The Shaykh continued, You have seen the verses on the grave and that is the businessman's. In addition, the businessman advised his son to visit his grave the consecutive three days after his death and seek forgiveness. After the death of the businessman, his son did so as advised. On the third day of visit, the son heard a loud noise in his father's grave. At night he dreamt his father. His father advised him, O Son! You are meeting us soon. However, after death it is not possible that you prepare yourself. Don't waste time in this world being caught in the trial and tests. Many were making big plans in the world. They had to die before their plans came into reality. All the repentance after death could not benefit them. (Be careful!) Your outcome may not be the same. Therefore O Son! Don't neglect! Don't neglect any more!

Waking up in the morning the son called all family members and told them, I think my time has ended. He payed all debts and gave away the rest of his wealth away. On the third day he faced the Qibla and reciting the Kalima Shahadat he passed away.

Dua My Friend - It is Dua

Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has made utmost efforts throughout his noble life to show the Light of Hidayat to His Ummah. His Noble Life has been so vividly depicted in the Hadith described by His Noble-Companions the Sahaba-ye-Keram Radiallahu Anhum!

We with all our sins must NOT at all be frustrated and get depressed. Let us make Tawba and strive on the path shown by Our Beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alaiyihi wa Sallam.

Dua - my friend is One Great Solution to all problems, worries and obstacles of Muslim Life.
No specific time, No specific place, No specific situation is required - Just Make Dua! Allah Tala is listening. He is our ONLY LORD to whom we belong. Allah Tala, in Sura Qiyamah States:

"Ilaa Rabika ya-oo-ma izinil mustaqar"
Meaning: Towards your Lord is the destiny that day (of everyone)

This life is nothing but an Opportunity. Now you are here. in this world, after some moments/days/weeks/years (Don't expect decades and centuries....!!!!) I and you will not be in this world my friend! No one will probably discuss me in his meeting and moments. For that time is the preparation.

Going back to our discussion: Dua my Friend - is Solution to all difficulties. Seek the Guidance of Allah Tala! Hazrat Thanvi (R) once said, if one cannot make dua, he should seek the ability to make dua.

See what Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed:
"One who has been provided the ability of making dua, for him the door of acceptance has also been opened." In another narration, it has been mentioned, "For him the door of Paradise (Jannah) has been opened." In another narration, it has been mentioned, "For him the door of Blessing (Rahmah) has been opened."

A Wonderful Dua:

"O Allah! It is Your Ability - Sustain me in bliss and into Your Blessing provide me some room and end my life being on Your obedience and in the best of Good Deeds provide me death and Provide me its reward in Paradise" - (Dua collected from 'Munajate Makbool: the book in which Hazrat Thanvi (R) has collected Dua from Quran and Hadith, available in PDF in www.islamibayanaat.com)

We must first make dua for ourselves, then for our near and dear ones. And also for the whole Ummah or Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam.

How blessed those servants are who at the middle of night stand in front of their Lord and weep like Genuine Sinners. O myself! Don't ever even think that they are similar to you who after sinning the whole day become tired and sleep like a bitch! They indeed are the Friends of Allah Tala who has attained proximity of Allah Tala. The Love of Allah has entered into their noble heart and made them so unconscious of this trivial world that they become totally oblivion. They are indeed the ones who will be Highly Rewarded. O myself! If you had the bit sense about their status!

O Allah! Don't deprive us! Who will forgive us (the sinners) if You only shower Bounty on Your closest of Friends. Definitely You shower Bounty upon us as well. However, for our misdeeds, we cannot understand if. Please provide us the understanding and provide us ability to earn Your Love! Ameen.

How will be my end?

Hazrat Shibli (R) used to say, "O the Lord of Unseen! If I knew what is my status to You? And how would You treat me finally? O the One Who Forgives sins and change the heart! How is going to be my end!"

Then he would recite the following words:

"Oh! Only if I knew how my discussion goes on - is it in positive or negative? Is it with hatred or with praise? By the Lord - Who knows all the secret matters! Oh! if I only knew what would be my situation on the Day of Resurrection? Oh if I knew whether I'll die with belief or with kufr (disbelief)? Do you think whether my request would be accepted or not? Or whether my heart will be broadened? Oh! If I only knew whether I'll enter into Hell or Heaven! You people better stop praising me! Because I know my state quite well."

Saiyedul Istegfar: Meaning in English

In Hadith it is stated, "One who will recite Saiyedul Istegfar (the Istegfar which has been entitled as Saiyed - Leader of Istegfar) with sincerity once at daytime and at night, will enter into Paradise if s/he passes away in that day or night. (Bukhari)

O Allah! You are my Sustainer. Without You there is none to worship. You are the One Who created me. I am your slave. I rely on Your promises with utmost efforts. I seek refuge to You from self degradation. I admit all Your Bounties on me. I confess my sins. Therefore, forgive me! None is there who can forgive sins without You. (Ameen))

Tawheed - Solution of Life: Part II

Imam Gazzali (R) has explained the concept of Tawheed with an example. He told that a man blamed the sword - you have killed me. Sword replied - What had I to do? I was in the hand. Blame the hand. Then the man told the hand (which was holding the sword), you have killed me. Hand exclaimed and said - How can I do so? I had no strength! It was the willingness who controlled me and directed me to fight. The man then accused willingness. Willingness defended by saying, I was instigated and ispired by the Heart. The heart told the man that I am in the control of someone else.

"The Heart of man is between the Two Fingers of Allah Tala (is contolled by Him)"

This is the reality, which is the purpose of Tawheed in terms of good deed. Whan someone achieves this level of Tawheed, neither does he dare to flatter others, nor does he care other people. He doesn't fear anyone except Allah Tala. The greed of wealth cannot influence him. He doesn't even fear death. Sheykh Sadi (R) has explained in this way:

"Under the foot of Mua'h-hid (One who as achieved Tawheed to satisfactory level)

Let go abundance of wealth;

Or let he be crowned with humiliation & disgrace

He will never - in any condition expect from man;

Do never ever forget this piece of teaching of Tawheed"

The one who attains the Makam (level) of Tawheed will not only comprehend, rather with his very naked eyes he will see that if the whole world wants to provide help to me, without Allah Tala's command that is NOT possible. On the other hand, if the whole world intends to harm me, without Allah Tala's wish it is NOT possible. Therefore, why should I be afraid of anyone? Why should I flatter others? Why should I be greedy? Therefore his fear is to none but Allah Tala. He never bestow his head in front of any being or thing, but Allah Tala. He excepts from none, but Allah Tala. He therefore is busy how to develop a strong bond with Allah Tala. And his slogan is:

"Know Allah Tala One, Read Him One, See Him One and Search Him One and only One."

Now the question comes, how will this level be attained(?)

In belief, all Muslims do posses the concept of Tawheed. However, as the sight is on the things, which outwardly express reasons, there is doubt in the belief mixed. Imam Gazzali (R) has provided an example of this suspension. About a dead body everyone knows and believes that it has nothing to do, completely incapable to do anything. People firmly belief that it cannot move its limbs. However, people fear to sleep with the dead body on the same bed. This fear doesn't imply that they don't believe in the death or incapability of the corpse. But an inner suspension fetch worries in them. In this way Muslims who haven't attained the level of Tawheed, admits the incapablity of things. But their hearts don't have the strength to completely and definitely defend the suspensions surrounding regarding 'doing of the matter'. Because eyes view 'things doing'. Heart is not strong enough to make understand - Doer is NOT the thing. If someone can attain this strength that things don't possess power, he will attain the level of Tawheed which is the discussion point.

The strength of Heart can be attained by various deep meditation. When man rests his eyes on the happening of this world, he can veiw how the plans and programs of men shatter. Gradually, the cloud of suspension drives away from the heart. The Aqida (Belief & Concept) of Tawheed takes place in heart and it finally becomes a habit. However, if this deep meditation is accomplished by the guide of a Spiritual Mentor then the later can save the person from all sorts of violation in works and thoughts.

Violation in the concept of Tawheed needs to be explained within two points.

First point is, though the Creator of all good and evil is none, but Allah Tala, and though all the happiness and sorrow both are from Allah Tala, still there is a conduct of approach while referring to these. The smallest of good should be related to Allah Tala, while the smallest of bad should not be related to Allah Tala.

Allah Tala states: "The door of Rahmah (Bounty) which Allah Tala opens for someone, others are incapable of closing it; the thing which He closes, without Him, none is its Opener." Sura Fatir: 2

In this Verse, there is a noticable point. It is, with 'opening' - the word Rahmah has been mentioned. However, with 'closing' - only 'the thing' has been mentioned, without any further explanation. Here in this Verse is a teaching, i.e. it is not the conduct to relate Allah Tala with closing of Rahmah. In addition, there is information that if anything in this universe apparantly seems contrary to Rahmah, it will be for good for all.

Hazrat Ibrahim (AM) has followed the mentioned conduct. He used to relate all the goods with Allah Tala. For instance, he used to say, Allah Tala has provided Hidayat to me. He is the One who provides food and clothing to me. He also says: "When I become ill, he recovers me from illness." Sura Ash-Shuwara: 80

Ibrahim (AM) has clearly related 'being ill' to ownself. But related Allah Tala whicle talking of recovery.

Hazrat Khijir (AM) has followed the same rule. He says, "And Allah Tala wished they reach their youth and retain the treasure." Sura Kahf: 82

He has related the good to Allah Tala.

However, when Hazrat Khijir (AM) made hole under the boat of the orphans, he stated, "I wished to damage the boat." Sura Kahf: 79

He related damage to himself.

For this reason, the Fuqaha has written a Ruling - if someone calls Allah Tala only the Creator of dogs and swines, the individual will become a kafir (nonbeliever).

Second point is, though the Doer of every activity in this universe is solely Allah Tala, still the Shariah hasn't completely ignored the discussion of things and means. Allah Tala has affixed some responsiblities to those. Because, definitely Allah Tala is the Doer and the Doer has set the thing to accomplish a task. For this reason if someone is providing support then it is mandetory that the one getting service and support should express gratitude towards the first. Ulama for this reason advise to preserve and take care of the papers, because papers are means to Knowledge.

To what extent should we keep notice to these means and in which cases there should not be any sort of noticing things, the difference between these need to be observed carefully by the Seeker, who wants to attain Tawheed in terms of deed. Practically a Spiritual Mentor will guide the Seeker along this path.

Tawheed - Solution of Life: Part I

Mufti Shafi Saheb (R) - A Star indeed. Allah Tala has blessed us through his works. This extract is one very valuable piece from 'Dil ki Dunya' a must read book for the Seeker of Right Path.

(Note: Anyone reading this part must not miss Part II for clear understanding of Tawheed. Any question regarding such matter must be clarified from Spiritual Mentor or Ulama)

"Know Allah Tala One, Read Him One, See Him One and Search Him One and only One..."

The inner values of man, which have been prescribed essential, amongst those - Tawheed is a major one. To believe in One Allah Tala and match nothing to Him is the foundation of Iman (belief). In Ilm-e Tasawuf, Tawheed has been elaborated much more deeply. It states that the Tawheed which had been achieved conceptually or at a level of belief must be practiced in good deeds in such manner that it becomes human habit. It means, when the believer views the happening of this world he firmly believes that whatever is happening is by the command of Allah Tala. Without His command not a single molecule can turn. At the level of belief every Muslim knows and accepts it. However, in every situation of life where will and woe comes by turn, this very belief doesn't seem to be arouse in mind always. For this reason, when there is means through which happiness or sorrow enters in life, man seem to relate that means with the happiness or sorrow coming. But reality of Tawheed (which is Tawheed in terms of good deed) is - always wake up in heart the actual cause of happenings (i.e. Only Allah Tala's command is the source of all happenings), as if you are seeing it. A devout says in this regard,

"Through your heart if you see the doing of Allah Tala that is Tawheed, only the bearing of witness through tongue is not sufficient."

When man views that behind every occurrence of this world there is One Allah Tala's Hand, man doesn't care to become friendly or inimical to others. Because his firm belief is happiness or sorrow whatever is coming in my life is from Allah Tala. The thing which can be seen as cause is only the means.

"Animosity of enemies and intimacy of friends all are from Allah Tala
Indeed the hearts are in the Hand of Allah Tala."

In Hadit it is stated, when something occurred which was against will, instead of expressing any sort of complain, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam just used to say, "What Allah Tala desired has happened, what He won't desire will not happen."

Fact is that, to relieve the heart at the moment of sorrow and pain, this is indeed the best treatment ever found!

If Allah Tala decides to Honor

At the time of Khalifa Harunur Rashid (R) there was a young man who possessed the quality of advising right and forbidding wrong. Once this young man made an adverse comment about the Khalifa. Being informed the Khalifa immediately arrested him and put him in a room where there was no provision of air and light, in view the individual be punished severely. After five days one man informed Khalifa Harunur Rashid (R) that he saw the very young man in a garden quite freely wandering about and that he is no more a captive.

Khalifa Harunur Rashid (R) again ordered to arrest the young man. When he was brought in front of the Khalifa, Khalifa asked him, "Who freed you?" The young man answered, "The one who entered me into the garden." Khalifa asked, "Who entered you into the garden?" The young man answered, "The one who made me captive." Khalifa said, "Your words seem very astonishing to me(?)" Instantly the young man replied, "Which task of Allah Tala is NOT astonishing to you?" Hearing this reply of the young man, Khalifa Harunur Rashid (R) started shedding tears.

Then Khalifa Harunur Rashid (R) ordered his men to take this man and mount him on horseback; give him a round across the city; ahead of his horse - let an announcer announce: "Allah Tala has honored this guy; Khalifa Harunur Rashid desired to dishonor and degrade him, however, the Khalifa has failded to do so. Finally he is bound to honor him." (From 'Nujhatul Basatin')

The reason for my solitude

Taken from Nujhatul Basatin - a Famous Book consisting of Stories of the Freinds of Allah Tala (very beneficial to quench the thirst of the Seekers), written by Hazrat Yafeyee Yameni (R)

One individual came to Hazrat Hasan Basri (R) and informed, "O Abu Sayeed! (Hazrat was called in this name) There is a person in our area, who always remain in solitude. We could not know the reason for his solitude."

Later - one day, Hazrat Hasan Basri (R) went to the place and asked the man (living in solitude), "I think you like solitude and dislike the company of people; however, what is the reason?" The man replied, "I am always busy with my work, for this reason I cannot meet people."

Listening to him, Hazrat Hasan Basri (R) said, "In that place lives a man named Hasan Basri - at least you can sometimes go there and meet Hasan." The man replied, "The reason, for which I cannot meet general people, is the same for which I cannot meet Hasan Basri." Hazrat Hasan Basri (R) asked him, "What is the work in which you are engaged in?" He answered, "When I open my eyes I see the unlimited bounties of Allah Tala over me, on the other hand, I see my large amount of sins. Then I initate Gratitude towards Allah Tala and seek His forgiveness - engaging in Istegfar. Therefore, I get no time for any other job."

Listening to the man Hazrat Hasan replied, "O Abdullah (the slave of Allah)! You are wiser than Hasan; be engaged in what you are."

Note: This state, as of the man in the story, is not permitted for all - i.e. staying a solitude life. Though in many situations solitude is praiseworthy, just as stated in the story. Asking your Spiritual Mentor or an Alim regarding when to do what is important. My Allah Tala guide us!

Firm Intention, Utmost Efforts & Steadfastness

From the lecture of our Beloved Khatib Saheb, Hz Ubaiydul Haq (R), who passed away in the Ramadan of 1428, who was the Light Bearer and Leader of Ulama in Bangladesh, a very Humble Servant of Allah Tala, a Great inspiration for us yet.....;
He studied the complete Bukhari under Hz Hussain Ahmad Madani R and was the classmate of Hz As'ad Madani R in Deoband. Khatib Saheb taught Mufti Taqi Usmani in his childhood! May Allah Tala Bless Him! May Allah Tala Bless us through achieving his lessons and turn those into reality....

(From a lecture broadcasted in Radio Pakistan in 1969-70)

Allah Tala states in the Quran: "Do you think that you have been created just with no objective and you will not return to me? Allah Tala is the Master; free off such words and most High"
By creation human beings inherits desire and attraction to some objectives. Man spend the life to achieve his objectives. However, whatever might be his desire - may it be very little or huge, only by desiring he cannot attain it. Undergoing hardship is necessary to achieve it. And to make the efforts a success firm intention is a prerequisite.

We need to have Az'm, which means to make firm intention. Isteqlal is another thing needed, which means to be firm in the intention while accomplishing the task; firmness should be such that whatever difficulties and hinderance may impede, be steadfast. Az'm is related to intention and Isteqlal with Deed (Amal). However these two cannot be separted - complementary to each other. Isteqlal is the inevitable consequence of genuine Az'm. Because steadfastness in Deed or Amal is found only when there is firm desire of accomplishment.

How great and noble desire may man posseses, it doesn't come true overnight. It is patience and perserverance through which man can attain objective, just like the diligent farmer, who undergoes hardship and finally wait for harvest.

Whatever may be the desire, achieve a worldy matter or for the salvation in the life hereafter - all achievement needs a lot of hardship and efforts to be made. Don't lose hope when you have made a good intention and intiated work; carry on continuously.

Quran has used the words 'patience' and 'utmost effort' to indicate 'firm intention and continuous hardship'. Quran has used another word - Isteqamat, which is the jist of Az'm and Isteqlal. To be steadfast on the path of truth, patience and utmost effort is essential. Allah Tala states, "O Prophet! Invite towards Deen (Islam) and be steadfast - just as you have been ordered and do not follow their will". (Sura Shura: 15)

Allah Tala then has given glad tidings for those who remain steadfast on the path of their Prophet and announces - they (the followers) will (surely) come out successfull and have no fear. (see Hameem Shazda: 30)

While accomplishing good deeds there is another name for A'zm and Isteqlal, that is: Mudaowamat, which means - continue the good deed till death. Not that sometimes we will do and sometimes we will not. Rather such steadfastness will come that we will always, i.e. regularly doing it - whatever situation may be encountered. In Hadith it is stated, "Such deed, though very little is liked by Allah Tala that is accomplished regularly".

Obstacle will come into the roads of righteous. Those have to be handled with patience.

Allah Tala has inspired the Believers who stive on the right path and with firm intention keep steadfast: "O Believers! Seek support through Patience and Salat. Certainly Allah Tala is with the patient."

We pray humbly to Allah Tala: "Rabbana Afrig 'Alaiyna Sabra-oo Wa Sabbit Aqdamana Wansurna 'Alal Qa-oomal Kafireen" - Ameen!

The First Step toward Self Rectification

Even if hundred times you break off Tawba - still make a Comeback!

If an individual wants that his inward remains pure, i.e. free from all spiritual diseases; if he wishes that consequently he may achieve the Satisfaction of Allah Tala, then the first step for him is Tawba. For this reason today I discuss about Tawba.

Generally people think that Tawba is to utter the words: Astagfirullaha Rabbi min kulli.....However, this is a very big mistake. The real meaning of Tawba is: Repent for past sins and be ashamed; compensate as much as possible and to make firm intention not to commit the sin again in future.

Imam Gazzali (R) has explained the matter very effectively. He said that, in this world good and evil are mixed. As there are factors which inspire toward Taqwa, there are also things which attract toward sins. There are things which attract you toward good deeds and there are opposite things which attract toward wrongdoings. Your task is to defeat the desire of committing sin and make the enthusiasm of accomplishing good deed the winner. He adds, take for example the gold in which there is some impurity - some impure materials are mixed in the some gold. The way to make such gold pure is to burn it in fire. If such impure gold is burnt in fire, only then it is freed from its baser metal. This is the only way to purify the impure gold. Just in similar way, to free man from sins - burn is a requirement. The burn which can free human from unwanted things (sins) is of two kinds: One is the fire of Jahannam. Because, if a believer is put in Hell-fire, it is to purify him - not only for punishing. Rather the main reason behind burning him there is to take him to Jannah. On the other hand, the non-believers are taken into the Jahannam forever for punishment. The other burn, which wipes out sins and purify is the burn i.e. the repentance and remorse. This is such a burning mean, which in this very world - burns the adulterated materials and purify a human.
Imaam Gazzali (R) said, to purify oneself, one has to burn in either of the two (stated above). Now it is up to him - through which mean does he wants himself to purify. If one feels that it is going to be very hard to be purified through Hell-fire, he may in this world burn his heart in the fire of Repentance. This repentance is Tawba. Just as it is in the Hadith: "Being regretful is Tawba."

Easy Prescription on Changing Life

Extracted from a Bayan of Hazrat Manzur Numani (R): (delivered in 1374 Hijri, at Ahmadabad)

I would like to tell you a word in short, that is: make two decisions regarding your life. First is, start making efforts on shaping your life right – rectify yourself. Secondly, make efforts to help change others’ lives as much as possible. To initiate efforts to develop life (in terms of Iman & Amal) is not at all hard, rather very easy. Whatever wrongdoings had been committed against the command of Allah Tala and His Rasul Sallallhu Alaiyhi wa Sallam, should be compensated through Tawba (sincere repentance). Make firm intention of obeying Allah Tala’s orders. If you again make mistake, i.e. if again you commit sin – keep on making Tawba. Through Tawba you will always be able to establish the broken relationship between you and Allah Tala.

Besides making Tawba, make dua. There are men & women who cannot make Tawba for lack of courage. They think that there are so and so sins which we cannot refrain from right now. These people should at least pray to Allah Tala, “O Lord! Cleanse us and provide us the courage that we can refrain from these sins forever.” Besides dua, make efforts to refrain from the sins too. By the Rahmah of Allah Tala it is hopeful that to decide on refraining from the sins will become very easy.

To be steadfast on Tawba you may keep yourself steadfast on some deeds. Recite Kalima Taiyiba “La Ilaha Illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah” regularly with sincerity. This would always refresh Iman – inner belief. Every day in the morning and afternoon read it 100 times, if not – at least ten times – with complete attention.

Surely you all say your prayers. Say prayers (Salat/Namaz) regularly – attentively. The least level of saying prayers is: the love and fear of Allah Tala is present in your heart and you contemplate on Allah Tala is seeing you (definitely He is!)

Make a habit of regular Zikr. Rasulullah Sallallhu Alaiyhi wa Sallam taught the following words: “Subhanallah walhamdulillah wa laa-ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar”. Many glad tidings have been reported for doing this Zikr. Read this 100 times a day. If anyone among you wants to do much more Zikr, you make contact a Sahebe-Zikr (A Spiritual Guide for Zikr), who can provide you more. In rectification of life, Zikr plays a vital role. The condition is that we do it attentively, that is: ruminate sincerely what we utter.

The final thing you must do is, everyday make a little time to engulf yourself in meditation on death. Remove your thoughts from all and think over on point –one day I have to leave this world, just the way life terminates for all. My soul will depart – it will be taken away. Then the body will be showered and after Janaza prayers it will be buried under the soil. Then on the Judgment Day I have to stand in front of Allah Tala with my Book of Deed. Alas! What will happen? – Keep on think over these incidents, as if all are in front of your very eyes. Think that it is only through the Blessing of Allah Tala, I would be able to get free. With firmly believing so you must repent sincerely – make Tawba and pray for Allah Tala’s shelter and support.

These four points which I mentioned are not complete Deen. Don’t think that through this you can be completely pious. Rather, if you accomplish these deeds continuously the bondage between you and Deen will become stronger day by day. By the Grace of Allah Tala your life will develop high.

Let all miss you; let not you miss world

What actually will you miss when YOU will be missing?

One Saint was asked, “O Hazrat! Why do we fear death so much? Why do we not want to abandon this world?” The reply from him was, “Very simple to understand! Would someone like to travel toward a place where he hasn’t built a house? – definitely not. You fear death because you haven’t built a house in the life hereafter. You know it well too. Because your efforts and energy has been spent to harvest this wordly life’s residence. Therefore, your soul attracts the world – where you have your home (certainly very temporary one). There is no preparation of living in the life hereafter (whereas, one has to live there forever). And death is the incident which will make you homeless!”

He even would never had given opportunity to a disbeliever (to His enenmy) drink a sip of water from this world, if He valued this world equivalent to a mosquito wing! Ah.. only if we (the believers) could realize!

3. Allah Tala has provided man with knowledge only so that he may pass the arduous test of the Day of Judgment.

4. The level of attaining Pure Character is: Taqwa - Fear of Allah Tala.

5. The heart fetches all the things which eyes see. If eyes do not take lesson from an incident that

provides some teaching, those eyes are ill.

6. Do not judge a person only by one quality; do consider his other characteristics.

7. Social contact is helpful at the time of difficulties.

8. Barakah (blessing) is never closed for a grateful servant. The door of Tawba is never closed for one who always seek forgiveness.

9. Whatever plan may you make regarding yourself, finally that is certainly to take place what Allah Tala wishes (decides for you). Therefore, while accomplishing every task, it is wise to rely on Allah Tala.

10. To forgive is the best revenge.

11. The more a heart becomes greedy, the farther it is from Allah Tala’s faith and reliance.

12. One who cannot guard oneself, he cannot be safe even if he is guarded by others.

13. Until you talk to someone don’t underestimate him.

14. The one who can control anger can accomplish most good deeds.

15. If it is difficult for someone to commit sin, it can be concluded that he is under the special blessing of Allah Tala.

Abu Bakr (Radiallahu anhu)'s Sayings

1. Ibadat is like a profession. Its industry/shop is: Solitude; its capital is Taqwa (refrain from sins in Fear of Allah Tala); its profit is Jannah.

2. After committing sin, Tawba is Wajib (mandatory) . However, refraining from sins is a greater Wajib.

3. Surprising is the ups and downs of time. More surprising is - not taking lesson from the ups and downs taking place in front of our own eyes!

4. Every good deed has its limit. However, Sabr (patience) is such a good deed that is limitless.

5. One who devotes himself in the path of Allah Tala, Allah Tala is enough for him.

6. Enough is the Ilm (Knowledge) attained by a Mu'min (believer) that creates Fear of Allah Tala in mind.

How Allah Tala saves His friends

Bakhte Nasr (a king, who as an oppressor) ordered to put Hazrat Danial (AM) [a Messenger of Allah Tala] into a lion cave, where two lions were laid down against the Messenger of Allah Tala. Due to Allah Tala's command the two lions not even dared to look at Hazrat Danial (AM) . After sometime Danial (AM) got hungry and required food. Allah Tala ordered Hazrat Armia (AM) [another Messenger of Allah Tala at that time] in Syria to prepare food for Hazrat Danial (AM). Hazrat Armia surprisingly asked Allah Tala: "O Allah! Hazrat Danial is Iraq's Babel; and I am in Syria (How come I'll reach him)? Allah Tala replied, "Your task is to prepare food (what I've ordered); My task is to reach it". After preparation of food, Allah Tala's command took Hazrat Armia (AM) right in the cage of Hazrat Danial (AM). Seeing Hazrat Armia standing in the cage Hazrat Danial asked him, "Who are you?" Hazrat Armia (AM) introduced himself. Hazrat Danial further queried, "How did you come here?" Hazrat Armia replied, "It is Allah Tala who reached me here." Hazrat Danial (AM) with pleasure asked, "Did Allah Tala utter my name to you?" Hazrat Armia (AM) replied, "Yes." Hazrat Danial (AM) answered, "Praise to Allah Tala - He doesn't forget the ones who remember Him. Praise to Allah Tala - He doesn't deprives the ones who expects from Him. Praise to Allah Tala - He doesn't assign the servant (relying on Him) on others' hand. Praise to Allah - He provides Ihsan in return of Ihsan. Praise to Allah Tala - He rewards Sabr with freedom. Praise to Allah Tala - He saves us from all troubles. At that moment He is our Reliance, when all our efforts have failed."

Importance of Taqwa

Hazrat Jabir (R) informed: A man was discussing about Ibadat in front of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam; another person then discussed about Taqwa. Rasulullah Sallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam told the first person: You shouldn't think that to make efforts of Ibadat is equivalent to Taqwa. Because Taqwa itself is a great Ibadat.

Hazrat Hakeem Akhtar Saheb's Interpretation on the above Hadith:
Taqwa means: to refrain from the forbidden acts only in Fear of Allah Tala. Little Ibadat with Taqwa results in great Barakah (blessing). On the other hand, without Taqwa a lot of Ibadat doesn't fetch Barakah. For this reason, Hakeemul Ummah Mujaddede Millat Shah Ashraf Ali Thanvi (R) said, "To abandon the habit of committing sins is greater than saying Tahajjud prayers." Allah Tala has also announced: "The Mutaqqi (one who attains Taqwa) are the ones who are Allah Tala's friend". A person always indulging in sins cannot be friend of Allah Tala (without Tawba). When a person becomes friend of Allah Tala, committing sin is not at all possible for him. Because, Bilayat and sin are two opposite things. A poets said: Many man faced devils are walking on this earth in the guise of Allah Tala's friend. Beware! Don't spoil your life in their hands! To become the friend of Allah Tala along with Iman and Amal attaining Taqwa is essential. And this is possible to attain by being in the company of the Pious. This is the road to get Allah Tala....keep in close contact with His friends. Thanvi (R)'s book Qasdus Sabeel has clearly defined the characteristic of a real friend of Allah Tala.

Five Conditions to Enter into the Paradise

Faqih Abu Layees Samarkandi (R) said, one who wants to enter into Jannah (Paradise) must fulfill the following five conditions:

1. Refrain from all sins

The Quran says: "The person who refrains his will from evil vices, his residence would be Jannah" Sura Naziyat: 40-41

2.Be satisfied with little in this world

In one Hadith Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed - Certainly the cost of Jannah is to give up dunya (worldly matters)

3. Be very much enthusiastic in accomplishing good deeds

The Quran says: "This Jannah has been rewarded to you for your good deeds" Sura Zukhruf: 72

4. Be in the company of devout

In one Hadith Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed - Increase the number of (noble) brothers & friends. Because on the Day of Judgment every (Muslim) brother will advocate his (Muslim) brother.

5. Pray more & more to Allah Tala for Jannah & Khatima bil Khaiyr (Good ending at death)

If someone enters into Islam, his/her all previous sins are eradicated. This belief is evident from the verses of Sura Anfal in the Holy Quran: “O Messenger! Inform them – those who are in disbelief (kufr) – if they return (from kufr), all the past sins of them will be pardoned.”

A portion of Muslim’s Hadith (where Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam told Hazrat Amr Ibne ’As (Rad): “……Embracing Islam annihilates all sins of the past…..” (Maariful Hadith – 1st Part, Hadith: 20)

Sometimes some people falsely believe: "Though our limbs are engaged in worldly affairs, our soul is not engaged in the world; always our mind is attentive towards Allah Ta’la."

This state is often a pitfall of Satan. Question to them: Without wetting your toes how can one walk through the water?

Remember, once if you become dedicated to this world, there is no way to survive. If you run after redundant things of this world, you will become busy and your religious life would suffer loss. Moreover remember, just as more you drink salt water from sea, your thirst will keep on increasing; the attraction of this world is quite similar. The more one attains assets of this world – the more ones desires keep on extending. Addiction of drugs has hardly any remedy; the obsession with worldly objects also increases day by day. This world is similar to a black poisonous snake. The covering of a snake is soft and good looking too; however, beneath such covering there is dangerous poison, which would take away life in a moment. The state of this world – duniya is such.

Qurbani

On Whom is Qurbani Wajib (obligatory)?

Qurbani is Wajib (obligatory) on every Muslim who is:

a. of sound mind - mature (has reached the age of puberty),
b. Muqeem (i.e. he is not a Shari traveller)
c. possesses the amount of 612,36 grams of silver or wealth equivalent to that value which is in excess of one's basic needs and debts on any of the three days of Qurbani. It is not necessary that this amount be in one's possession for a complete lunar year. (Fatawa Hindiyyah)

Note:

1. Qurbani is not incumbent on a child or an insane person whether they own wealth equivalent to the amount above or not, nor is it Wajib upon their guardians to perform it on their behalf. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah)

2. Similarly, it is not Wajib on a musafir (one considered a traveller in Shariah). A Shar'i traveller is he who proceeds on a journey with an intention of travelling 77 kms. He will be treated as a traveller as soon as soon as he departs his town. However if he intends residing at any place for 15 days or more then he will cease to be a traveller there. (Fataawa Hindiyyah)

3. A person upon whom Qurbani is not necessary should not incur debts beyond one’s capacity to offer the Qurbani.

4. If Qurbani is not compulsory on a person, for example, a musaafir then it is virtous to do so if it is within the person’s means.

The Physical Qurbani

During the days of Qurbani, Sadaqah and charity will not compensate for the physical observance of Qurbani. Just as Zakah cannot compensate for Hajj, nor fasting compensate for Salaah, similarly charity cannot compensate for Qurbani. However, if the days of Qurbani have passed, and the Qurbani was not offered due to ignorance, negligence or for some other valid reason, then it becomes Wajib to give in Sadaqah the price of Qurbani animal or the unslaughtered animal itself to the poor. Time for Qurbani

The time for Qurbani begins after the Eid Salaah on the 10th of Zul Hijjah and ends at the setting of the sun on the 12th of Zul Hijjah. It is better to make Qurbani on the first day then the second, and thereafter the third. (Fataawa Shaamiyya)If the Qurbani has been offered before the 'Eid Salaah, it will have to be repeated. (Fataawa Hindiyyah)

It is preferable to slaughter during the day. (Fataawa Hindiyyah)

In rural and village areas where Jumu'ah and 'Eid Salaah are not performed, Qurbani may be performed as soon as Fajr (Subhus Saadiq) sets in on the 10th of Zul Hijjah. (Fataawa Hindiyyah)

If a person residing in a town (where Eid salaah is performed) arranges for his animal to be slaughtered in a village (where Eid Salaah is not performed), then it is permissible for his animal to be slaughtered before he performs his Eid Salaah. (Fataawa Shaamiyyah)

Our Great Mistake

Though you might be angry with me, still….still I would say these words. Yes I would.

The enemies of Islam are representing Islam in an evil way – true, they are writing against Islam – true, they are spreading misleading information against Islam – true. But my dear brothers! What are we the Muslims doing? How are we today representing us? What are our acts in the homes? What are our way of life in the offices? How do we behave in the society? What do we demonstrate in our day to day life? Isn’t every day and every moment the non-muslims seeing the Muslims? Aren’t they reading the Muslims to a greater extent than we do their anti Islamic materials? But is our ‘Conduct of Life’ the Islamic Way? Does our life portray any sketch of Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam and His Sahabas? Ask yourself. Be rational. What were we supposed to give this world and what had been given by us? O my dear brothers! Shocking it is that my lifestyle is not drawing any impression on the people with whom I talk and with whom I deal…..

We, bearing the names of Muslims, are actively participating in the mission against Islam. And this is rather much more dangerous than what our enemies are engaged at.

O Brothers in Islam!

Make pure intention to setback, make Tawba, initiate the Noble deeds that would represent you as a slave of Allah Ta’la. Pay serious attention in refinement of life style. Help other brothers do so and pray to Allah Ta’la – May He help us!

Objective of this Life

Dependency only on Allah Ta'la will provide support to eradicate the above loss.

Tawba, Dua & making efforts would create real dependency/reliance on Allah Ta'la.

For triggering pure Tawba, Dua and Diligence - 'Suhbat' (Company) of the Sadeqeen are
compulsory.

By spreading the Deen brought to us by Saiyedina Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam, all the above would come - because Allah Ta'la's Satisfaction commences here.

Allah Ta'la's Satisfaction would fetch us His LOVE.

His LOVE is something which will make you and me forget all pains of this dunya.
O Allah! O Kareem (The Giver to the ineligible)!
Fetch Us Your LOVE...Ameen

By shutting the mouth improve and develop the senses. Don’t be thoughtless when you are quiet.
While making friendship with someone, see whether his temper is in control when anger arouses. Don’t make friendship with those who lose temper and become imbalanced while getting angry.
Don’t fear man while accomplishing a deed to satisfy Allah Ta’la.
Always try to rectify yourself, so that the heart never gets chances to be blemished.
Among thousands of words select four. Among these four, don’t forget two: one is your Creator and the other is death. And never remember the other two: first, your credits and second, others faults.

Present state – how strong are you today? What things do you have in possession? What are yours? How do benefit from these things you believe ‘yours’? What makes you so proud? What situations make you very embarrassed and sad? What are you after? What will you target finally in your life?

Death – how lonely you will be…..who will bury you if you die now/tomorrow…..who will help you…..who will be your companion…..from what will you benefit……what will happen to all your favorites…..

Check: Who were very close to you just 5 years ago? Where are they now? Is the relationship with them all the same?

How are your ACTIVITIES changing with growth of age? What were you thinking to do just 01 year back? Are you thinking the same now?

What factors are influencing your life? What are you reading? Are those worthy? Who are your companions? Are they really helpful?

Don’t lose this winning battle…

Today in this rapidly changing world people are rapidly thinking.
This rapidness has become ‘too rapid’ for many people who aren’t that rapid.
It means many people are out of control – they are apparently ‘rapid’, however, virtually NOT.
Advancement in terms of tools is never enough.
Development and Advancement must be in terms of Human Beings.
However, many people skip the REALITY OF LIFE.
They have almost no idea about objectives and goal of life.
Shortsightness is a major reason.
They see but not beyond this life.
They enjoy but not beyond this life.
They engage in momentary tasks; they absorb in it; they find a lustful enjoyment….and they lose their morality.
Many youngsters just don’t care……. Their dialogue is: ‘LIFE IS SHORT – PLAY MORE’ – this is indeed a satanic verse which invites us all; it induces us towards this temporary world.

Replace the word PLAY’s letter ‘L’ with a ‘R’. It goes: ‘LIFE IS SHORT – PRAY MORE’…that should have been the motto!

However, very unfortunately we’re being surrounded and trapped by evils. The reason is nothing but not attaining TAQWA.

If one attains TAQWA, one is beneath the Shelter of the Lord of this Universe.

Refrain from sins! Refrain from sins! Refrain from sins!

….That’s it.

This Sinning is the major problem of this Ummah today.

Doing all positive. However…..not stopping committing sins.

Plus (Abiding Allah Ta’la’S Orders) Multiplied by Minus (Not refraining from sins) is simply = MINUS (Negative Output)

…..IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT!

Nothing is the yardstick of Proximity of your Lord, but Taqwa.

Meditate Death

Death is drawing near. What have you collected?
This is no joke.

What have you got to place before Allah Ta'la?
In this materialistic and temporary world when so many 'importants' are surrounding you…….ask yourself at least once: How have you set priorities?
Think – what is in your mind dangling most of the time?
Today is the day which you planned for. What was your plan for today? To what extent have you seen your dreams and desires come true? What have you got, what have you lost?

Be specific…
How many of verses have you planned to recite today? What happened in reality?
Did you control your eyes? Did you check your tongue? Did you hold back yourself when evil offerings invited?
Calculate…….yes now a calculator is available. Now it is worthy calculating…….

What! - No time..?
Never. That is downright false.
All the time is now….today…here….
This is the time. When it will end there will be no sun shine, no air, no light my dear!

Hey! more calculations to be made: How many friends have you met? What were the major topics of your conversation?
Thoughts, dreams, plans and intentions are engulfing your mind……every now and then new and fresh ones are coming and going, entering and exiting. What is happening exactly?

Who was the Miss Universe 30 years ago? Where exactly she is now?
Great scientists, great artists and great stars – if you believe they have achieved something, my simple question to you is why do you feel proud for them? Why do they influence you so much? What exactly have you achieved through their achievements? Why are we busy with them?

Two things: Leisure and Good health my dear friends….would be wasted and misused; Though having these on hand, people would be deceived. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam has informed it!
What is happening to me? Am I deceiving myself?

I am indulging in unnecessary tasks, I am planning so irrationally, I am taking excessive responsibilities, I am after others' fault finding, I am making BIG arrangements……….. I am day dreaming….

When your day dream will terminate
When you will see who you are
No way, not a chance to reciprocate…..
You are my dear too far.
That would be no illusion my dear
You must cry today; repent and fear…

A Martyr – never to forget

It was Shah Waliullah (R), who was indeed a personality not to be described in few words. Allah Ta’la has accepted him and his dynasty for the service of Islam.

I however would tell you about one of his grandsons – Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R). He was the son of Shah Abdul Ghani Saheb (R), the youngest son of Shah Waliullah (R).

Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R) was fighting against the Sikhs on May 09, 1831. A sikh – in front of Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R) called names against our beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam. Instantly Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R) got vexed and uttered – “By Allah! I would not die before I kill you!” Suddenly another kafir – standing right behind struck Hazrat with a sword and chopped his head off; Hazrat’s head fell on the ground…..

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam informed in one Hadith, “There are some slaves of Allah Ta’la, if they utter something by the Name of Allah Ta’la – He fills the desire of those slaves”.

This promise of Allah Ta’la got true in case of Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R). Allah Ta’la exposed the Spiritual power of his friend.

Though beheaded, Hazrat threw his sword (which was in his hand) at the kafir who ran off just after calling names against our Prophet; the kafir at that time was 220 yards far trying his best to flee. However the desire of Allah Ta’la has resembled his friend’s wish…..! The culprit was killed by the sword of Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R), which chased him all the way and struck him brutally. And finally a Star of Islam, a Great Lover of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam got Martyred. O Allah….Bless him with Your Greatest of Honors! Ameen.

Shah Ismail Hossain Shahid (R) does make us remember the Great Shuhada: Hazrat Hamza (Radi), Hazrat Abdullah Ibne Zubayer (Radi) and Hazrat Khabbab (Radi).

O Martyr! You have sacrificed

I have only heard of you and cried.

This cry makes me joyful today

When of you – I would say.

This wretched heart will fill in glory

Telling people your brilliant story.

Don't Count down - Count Up!

The last Ten days of Ramadan is close. Time is now to contemplate – what have we achieved and what have we lost. We have to become more humble towards Allah Ta’la thinking the enormous mistakes we made while accomplishing Fast, Tilawat, Zikr, Iftar, Sehri etc. If we admit that we made mistakes in these direct worships, then no doubt in our worldly affairs (service, business, household works, social etiquettes etc.) we have also made lots of mistakes.

A slave, who admits his faults and sets a comeback through pure Tawba will Inshallah be forgiven. Haven’t you heard the verses of Allah Ta’la(?) – “O The Believers! Repent towards Allah Ta’la with Tawba-tun-Nasuha (Pure Repentance). It is expected that your Lord would eradicate all your sins and place you in Jannah, underneath of which river flows.” Sura Tahreem: 08

The month of Blessings, Forgiveness and Salivation is leaving. An opportunity to cleanse ourselves from all sins and restart with a fresh life has come. Allah Ta’la is just on chance of to pardon his slave. Definitely the greatest of opportunities; a person missing this would be so deprived and so wretched that had he knew what he lost – the rest of his life would be ruined in repentance!

Let us make a firm intention. Start sobbing towards Allah Ta’la “O Allah! O Kareem! This slave is in distress. He has already wasted a lot of time. I confess all my guilt. By the sake of your Beloved Rasul Sallallahu Alaiyhiwasallam pardon me…at this holy eve of the Best Last 10 days of Ramadan. Fetch Laiylatul Qadr in life! Give me opportunity to worship in the Night full of Blessings – Fetch Your Satisfaction my Lord!

Let us get ready for Laiylatul Qadr! Let us increase our prayers and all good deeds.

“This is my last Ramadan; this is my last chance” – such a firm belief can force us to overcome all laziness and negligence. Allah Ta’la has trapped the devil. He has promised to provide His all out support if we initiate.

Lovers of this world ‘Count down’…..we, the Believers should be opposite.

Ramadan has not started from 30 and then 29, 28, 27…..!

Ramadan has started 1, 2, 3…..and so on…..

See – we have to Count up….we have to lift our spirits higher….We have to gain the Satisfaction of Allah Ta’la. O Allah! Provide us all the ability to gain Your Love! Ameen.

Do not affix your own value

Imagine – a very poor, wretched and distressed person is suddenly offered the post of a Minister in the Government’s cabinet.

The individual would struck dump; gaze at the speaker for a while and think - why the man is teasing me so ironically…

Quite possible the poor fellow may utter words as: “What ability do I have to be so…” or he’ll mumble “Me! A Minister??? An incompetent and completely ragged guy like me…..would become a cabinet Minister!”

Its quite obvious that everyone likes himself. Everyone expects something better in life. However, no one dares to claim something what he is not or something – what he should not want .

But this fact has been best perceived by the Walis (Friends) of Allah Ta’la. A Wali of Allah Ta’la never regards him to be esteemed and respected. He always thinks himself to be the most poor, wretched and distressed slaves among all. This has resulted in humbleness and sincerity on every of his work.

He indeed has realized the meaning of the Holy Qur’an’s Verses:

“Minha Khalaqnakum; wa fee-ha Nu’yee doo kum; wa minha nukhrijukum taa-ratan ukhra” ( from Sura Taha)
- We’ve created you from this soil, you are about to return to it and again we’ll again create you from the same.

Please be with the poet in this regard:

O Allah! I have fixed my price too high –
This is indeed a great sin I’ve committed….
Now I realize; Now I remorse and sigh
I’m the most petty and priceless among your creations…
Please forgive me and do not try…..

What's Next....after the final Next?

Haven’t you seen people making plans? You yourself don’t make few, don’t you? These plans span from homes to offices and land to space. Every human being, each on various fields is planning; hunting something…..has objectives – running after something. Haven’t you ever seen how courageous people become and how generously they spend money to establish each plan they make? Haven’t you seen often people become daring in their endeavors; sacrificing close relatives….even leaving behind the most beloved ones!

My dear, there had been and are such many plans in my life….I bet, you have had such plans too.

But ask just one simple question, after many plans, many fulfillment and achievements, many ups and downs, many failures, many efforts – What is Next?
Finally, what will happen?
Where are you heading towards with all these plans, programs, failure and achievements?
Will never a final NEXT come? After which there will be NO next..........?

Meditate on these words: Man’s desire would surpass his Life span…..- remaining many dreams unfulfilled, he would certainly have to leave the world; the time of his departure is fixed; not a moment would he be granted whatever top priority he may sense. And is that the end? No, just the beginning of infinite life. Then would he would realize – how his plans worked(?)

O my dear!

Many have been
In the pitfall
They only assumed
A backward call.

The Heart is for none, but Allah Ta'la

Once Hazrat Thanvi R was going to his house from his Khanqah. I (Hazrat R’s famous Apostle Mufti Muhammad Shafi R) was along with him as I had some works with him. Suddenly Hazrat Thavi R stopped and took out a pen and paper. He wrote down something on the piece of paper and kept it back into his pocket. Then he himself told me: “Did you understand anything (what I did)?” I answered, “No”. He explained, “I’ve loaded the paper with the words, which were in my heart. I remembered that I have a task on hand to be accomplished after returning to Khanqah. If I had not written it down, it would repeatedly disturb my heart. After writing it down my heart is free from it”. Then he said, “The heart has been created for Allah Ta’la”.

Therefore, the heart must be mainly engaged in remembrance of Allah Ta’la. For necessity one may bear other things in heart; however, this should be limited to an extent. To fill the heart with secular love and thoughts is a great mischief. The difference between the Ambiya AM, Awliaya R and us is both were in engaged in worldly affairs; however, the previous were the perfect example of: “Hand is at work, but the heart completely absorbed in the remembrance of Allah Ta’la”.

If you’re not believing me you are living in a fool’s paradise.

Indeed, most people are totally deceived with this worldly life. They claim they love Rasulullahi Sallallahu Alaiyhiwasallam, however, their dress up, their life style all are opposite.

You don’t be one of them. Decide today. No one wants a comfortable life for 80/90 years by forgoing a 200 years peaceful life…..

No one will get a 2000 years life after death. The life that's starting hereafter will all be for infinity.

And what do you have in mind about the life hereafter…..?
It is either of eternal sorrow or of eternal happiness. Depends on what you do today....

Let this Ramadan be the turning point of your life. Refresh yourself……you will be forgiven – this is the announcement of the Lord and Master of the universe.

Any of the problems that has messed your life today has a reason behind. Well you may ask who the one am I to poke nose in your personal matters????

At least for this moment I’m Mr. Well-wisher. I know your problem!!! You have lost the relationship with Him….the Sustainer of all. He is Allah Ta’la. Establish relationship with Him – pray humbly for all the wrongdoings in your life. Don’t look back! Move forward. He is here to help.

Assistance on the path of Allah Ta'la

The main objective of human life is to satisfy Allah Ta'la. And to be successful in this mission, one should walk along a path that is known. And the path is verily defined, that is to obey all the instructions and guidelines from Allah Ta'la.

Two things would help us on this walkway:
a) Remembering Allah Ta'la all the time
b) Spending time as much as possible in the company of pious and devout persons. If it’s not possible due to lack of time, then try to read the mulfuzats (sayings) and biographies of those noble men.

Again two things can hinder and refrain us on this walkway:
a) Committing sins and
b) To keep busy with unnecessary deeds.

The most important task for a traveller (on the path of Allah Ta'la) is to be aware all the time.

Make the Intention Now

Yes, if you are wise you will spend it just unwillingly. However, by doing so you'd not be a loser. Rather today, the ones leading a very willful life are the sufferers.

Therefore, lead a Noble Life. Always remember what the Messenger of Allah Ta'la our beloved Prophet Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwasallam has informed:
If you knew what I know then you would have smiled less and weeped more.

Social Etiquettes Part 1

Etiquettes of listening to others when they speak

Etiquette: When someone is talking, he must be listened with care. If the listener faces any ambiguity in understanding, he must ask the speaker and make it clear. Do not act without understanding and only assuming. Sometimes if someone is requested/ordered to accomplish a task and he starts doing it without clearly understanding, such act fetches pains for the person being served.

Etiquette: When someone is speaking to you, don’t be inattentive towards him. Such behavior hurts the speaker. Especially when someone is speaking for your benefit or answering your question, much more attention must be paid in these situations. Even if there is intimacy between you and speaker to be inattentive while he speaks is very unfair.

Etiquettes relating to visiting the patients

Etiquette: If someone has a blister on his covered limbs (sexual organs etc) do not repeatedly ask him about it. Because, this makes him ashamed.

Etiquette: Return soon after you visit a patient, so that the patient himself or his relatives don’t face troubles. If the patient needs to accomplish a personal task, he must directly tell his visitors that he now needs to be alone. Sometimes in such cases through gesture and posture the patient expresses his intention; however, the visitors don’t understand clearly. As a result, the patient suffers.

Wipe out the aversions

Allah Ta’la states:
Forgive (people), command (them) towards righteous and stay apart from the unwise.

Rasulullah Sallallahualaiyhiwasallam informed:
Don’t possess aversion against each other.

Ques: What is aversion?

Ans: If you become very angry against someone and cannot take revenge, a sort of dirt spoils your heart. This is because you become vindictive and the dirt is called ‘keena’ – aversion.

Treatment of aversion:
Pardon the individual and start behaving well with him; inshallah after some days the aversion will erase.

6. To expose the face of the deceased after getting it dressed

7. Asking such questions to public “How was the man?”

8. To say Janazah more than once

9. To set bamboos too high believing that the deceased will be seated

10. Only move the face towards Qibla (the ruling is to direct face as well as the chest toward Qibla)

11. To arrange programs after 3/5/7/40 days after the death of the person

Is Qiyas and Ijtehad Innovation?

The major sources of Shariah* rulings are Al-Qur’an and Hadith. Basing on these two solutions to different aspects of Islamic life would be derived. Thus, Qiyas and Ijtehad – these two are regarded as two sources of Shariah rulings. These are the two sources which open the gateway to solutions for all man of all times. Therefore, these two are not innovation/bid’at. Because, these two are not new in Islamic sphere. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam himself and also his companions the Sahabas (R) applied these two to high extent for formulating and implementing laws.

Mujadded-e-Alfesani Shaikh Ahmad Serhendi R has written:
Qiyas and Ijtehad cannot be pertained as bid’at in any circumstances. Because, these two provide evidence of Qur’an and Hadith. They don’t provide any innovation.

Malfuzat - Hazrat Ashraf Ali Thanvi R Part II

A severe audacity
Once a disbeliever (Kafir) asked Hazrat Ali (RA) “Don’t you believe that none can die before the predetermined time of death?” Hazrat Ali (RA) replied “Yes, undoubtedly no one can die before his predetermined time of death.” Then the disbeliever asked Hazrat Ali R to jump off a high-rise building to prove his belief. Then Hazrat Ali (RA) replied: “Certainly I believe that even what you tell me to do would not fetch death if it isn’t fixed for me”. But I won’t do such thing because that will be an act to justify fortune affixed by Allah Ta’la (Taqdir) which indeed is a severe audacity against Allah Ta’la and nothing more.”

Reason for suspicion
It’s often found that general people easily become dubious about a matter. And to end up the suspicion becomes very hard for them. The origin of such suspicion is ignorance and to eradicate it knowledge is the major basis. Therefore, suspicion produced from ignorance can though easily be solved by many; knowledge-based solution is not easy for all.

Hazards of Overeating

From Gazzali’s famous book Tablige Deen (2nd Part: Greed)

Hazrat Abu Sulaiman Darani states: Eating too much will fetch the following hazards:

i. No taste in worship (Ibadat)

ii. The sharpness of knowledge impairs; as a result, the Marifat of Allah cannot be attained

iii. The sympathy towards creation impairs; as are assumed as glutton just as ownself

iv. Stomach becomes plump and laziness appears

v. Desire of luxury intensifies

vi. May be such a situation would prevail: Muslims are going to mosque and the stomach-lovers would run towards the toilet!

Where is Geebat Not a Sin?

Following are the circumstances, where Backbiting (Geebat) is Not a Sin:

1. Complain the Judge against an oppressor to seek refuge and get rid of torture

2. If one is indulge in innovation (bid’at)/acts against rulings of Shariah that threat the people to fall in his pitfall – warning them (to save them from sin and wrongdoing) against such a man would not be a Geebat.

3. To know the right way to act upon, one may complain a Scholar against someone while seeking Ruling of Shariah. However, if there is no benefit (of own self/Muslims) in exposing such fault, Sin of Geebat will incur.

4. If a person while marriage/trading is being cheated and another knows the fact, the second can warn the first about the deception.

5. Often people are well-known with names; though the names carry a negative meaning, however, the negative meaning isn’t the purpose of calling him/her. The person can be recognized by the name. Such utterance would not be considered as Geebat.

6. If one bears a fault, which all knows and s/he shamelessly perform it very openly – uttering against such faults are also not Geebat.

Warning: Please be careful of this Major Sin – Geebat. Often we indulge in Geebat and confidently feel ‘it is not a Geebat’, whereas, it is! Please be cautious.

Pure Tawba

Tawba is the first step for a Traveler on the Road of Allah Ta’la. Thus we felt important to depict what is Tawba-tun-Nasuha (Pure Repentance):

“O The Believers! Repent towards Allah Ta’la with Tawba-tun-Nasuha (Pure Repentance). It is expected that your Lord would eradicate all your sins and place you in Jannah, underneath of which river flows.” Sura Tahreem: 08

In the Ayat good news and salvation had been promised for Tawba-tun-Nasuha.
According to Hazrat Hasan Basri R, to repent for past sins and pledge not to repeat those in future. Hazrat Qalbi R states: Tawba-tun-Nasuha is seek forgiveness orally, repent by heart and refrain the limbs from those sins in future. (Maariful Qur’an)

My dear friends! There is a great news regarding Tawba, which many people don’t understand; many don’t even know it.

If any sin is occurred by someone today – and he makes Tawba as mentioned above, Inshallah he will be forgiven. If the same person commits the same sin again in future this sin doesn’t refute (Because that had been a pure one – bearing no intention of performing sin again) the previous Tawba! He must again sincerely perform Tawba.
If it repeats, i.e. if the person again performs the same sin….he must again, yes: again sincerely perform Tawba. Inshallah the Most Gracious will grant his repentance.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam has informed his Beloved Ummah:
All men are sinners, better among those sinners are the ones who perform Tawba
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam has informed through another Hadith:
One who seeks forgiveness after committing sin, even if s/he commits the sin seventy times on a day, still the individual would not be treated as defiant against sins.

If you are not performing Tawba, you are becoming steadfast on your sins!
On the other hand, performing every Tawba would cleanse your heart every time and make you pure Inshallah. Remember the Condition! Every Tawba must bear the intention of not performing the sin again. Only then can it be considered Pure.

May Allah Ta’la bless us with Tawba tun Nasuha –Ameen.

The Gist of Tasawuf

If laziness is felt to perform any good deed, drive it away and execute it. On the other hand, if intention of committing sin instigates, fight back against the evil and refrain from it. If one achieves up this state, one needs nothing else. Because, this is the means to establish relation with Allah Ta’la.

Shaban & Shabe Barat

Many Muslims accomplish good deeds. Often they also have a good intention – Satisfy Allah Ta’la. However very unfortunately they don’t do it in the in the right way. How can such a deed then be accepted as good? Wrong way of accomplishing deeds spoil our outcome.

Before performing any deed a Muslim must always ask: Am I doing a good deed and am I doing it rightly i.e. in the right way and in right intention?

In Shab-e-barat (15th Shaban):
i. Many people gather in mosques and pass the whole night performing nafl prayers.

ii. Many people gather in graveyards in purpose of making dua for the passed away relatives on 15th Shaban.

iii. Many people fast on the day.

iv. Many people arrange sweets and bread (Halua Ruti).

According to Islamic Rulings (Shariah) how are these judged?

From Islahi Khutbat of Mufti Taqi Usmani the following answers to the above questions had been collected:
i. Place of performing Nafl Ibadat is house. Nafl Ibadat is such a meeting with Allah Ta’la which should be done in solitude. This is Sunnah. Following the Sunnah will bring us reward and opposite action would never be such effective. So don’t gather in Mosques to perform Nafl prayers. Rather at the night of 15th Shaban perform Nafl deeds at home.

ii. Mufti Shafi R states: “Just following Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwasallam’s deeds as described. For instance in one 15th Shaban night he visited the graveyard. So you also in the intention of performing Sunnah visit the graveyard in one 15th Shaban night – and not throughout all 15th Shaban.”

iii. Fasting on the occasion of Shab-e-barat (on 15th Shaban )is not Sunnah. However, fasting more on Shaban had been encouraged in month of Shaban in Hadith in view to welcome Ramadan. And many Muslims fast on 13th, 14th and 15th of every Hijri month, which is also described in Hadith and certainly praiseworthy. So especially fasting on 15th Shaban with the view to perform Shab-e-barat had been forbidden. But with intention of performing Nafl Fasting in Shaban (which has been encouraged in Hadith) – one may fast on this day.
Another point comes here: Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyihiwasallam has forbidden us to fast on 28th and 29th of Shaban. Because, this is the time to prepare fully for the Fast of Ramadan.

iv. Making Sweet and Bread (Halua Ruti) on the occasion of Shab-e-barat is a downright innovation (Bid’at), thus not permissible. This is only a Saytan’s net to refrain us from Ibadat of Allah Ta’la and spoil our intention.

Sign of a Strong Believer

In the war of Siffin Hazrat Ali R was sleeping peacefully on his horseback. The situation was such furious in the battle that numerous where beheaded all around. In this terrible situation Hazrat Ali R’s sleep on horseback, whose sword often fell on the ground astonished one individual who asked, “Amirul Mu’mineen! In such danger you soundly sleep?” The answer of Amirul Mu’mineen was:
“The day to die and the day not to die – between these two when shall I escape death? On the day when death is to not come – it will never come. And the day affixed for death cannot be escaped with any precaution.”

The sign of Satisfaction of Allah Ta’la
(Hazrat Delivered on 20th August, 1961)
Mufti Shafi R said, his teacher Hazrat Mawlana Azgar Hossain R told, “When a man is provided the ability (tawfiq) of good deeds, or he keeps on performing good deeds, you may conclude that Allah Ta’la is Satisfied with him. Therefore, getting the opportunity of good deeds and performing Ibadat (i.e. worshipping) of Allah Ta’la is to be thought (great) bounty.”
Mufti R said, “Concentrating mind on a good deed is within the ability of man. But to contact mind and soul in Ibadat (worship toward Allah Ta’la) is not within the ability of man; that is the wish of Allah Ta’la.”

Don’t leave a good deed despite small and don’t commit a sin let be how minor it is
(Hazrat Delivered on 9th August, 1964)
Mufti Shafi R said, Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alayihiwasallam said, “Don’t leave a good deed despite of being small, and refrain from committing a sin despite how minor it seems”. Mufti Shafi R said to the present audience, “The enormous good deeds those you perform today are the successors of small good deeds you performed at the earlier stage of your life. Gradually from small good deeds opportunity of performing greater amount of good deeds has come. Similarly, those who are committing major sins today, previously had been habituated to minor ones.” He said, “We shouldn’t leave performing good deeds assuming it to be small, because, often that becomes the reason for salvation. For example: the two incidents of two Mudares (teachers) of Deoband Madrasah. One between them is Mawlana Mahmudul Hasan R, whom one saw in dream after passing away, and asked – how has Allah Ta’la treated you? He answered, when alive – once his wife cooked curry without salt and he didn’t utter any single word regarding the matter to his wife and simply had his meal. Allah Ta’la for such a petty deed had forgiven him and set free.”
Second incident, the second Scholar, while he died none was present – he passed away when he had returned from the wash room. His servant was not beside him. After his death someone asked him in dream, how has Allah Ta’la treated you? He answered, ‘None was present when I passed away. On that regard, Allah Ta’la has forgiven me.’ Allah Ta’la didn’t ask him about any deeds.

Dirts of the Soul

Conduct of Our Noble Predecessors: Hazrat Ali R Lost his shield

Hazrat Ali R once lost a shield. At that time he was the Caliph – Ameerul Mu’mineen (Leader of the Believers). Suddenly, he saw one Jew carrying it. Hazrat Ali R claimed, “This is mine.” But the Jew rejected and claimed it as his.
Hazrat Ali R went to the Judge. He was Hazrat Suraiyh Rah – a Tabeyee. The Judge listened to Hazrat Ali R and asked whether he has any witness or not. Hazrat Ali R brought two witnesses accordingly – one his servant and Hazrat Hasan R (Hazrat’s son). The Judge accepted the servant as witness, however he rejected Hazrat Hasan R as witness for being son.

(Note: Whether son’s witness would be accepted or not – this issue is a bit contradictory. Hazrat Ali R was on its favor, however the Judge was not. As the Judge is the authority of legal affairs, thus his opinion had to be accepted)

As a result, the verdict was against the Highly dignified ruler – the Jew would possess the shield!

Hazrat Ali R’s impression? Very simple. He walked out normally, accepting all the Judge has said and showing due respect toward Allah Ta’la’s Ruling.

The reaction of the Jew? Very astonishing for him, however should not for the Muslims!
The Jew embraced Islam and returned the shield to Hazrat Ali R. Hazrat Ali R gifted it to the new Muslim. The new Muslim participated in the Battle of Siffin and Martyred.

Our Noble Predecessors were like that! People in large numbers and most of the people indeed converted to Islam only by the exposure of their great virtues. Today we lack a modest character and the noble virtues which attract people. Instead, most of us possess the character of personalities which are opposite to our Rasul Sallallahu Alayihiwa Sallam and the Sahabas (R)! How can we expect progress and development on these opposite paths…..?

May Allah Ta’la save and us…..may we be aware and make a pledge to lead a piety life!

Do Not Raise Hands while Praying after Azan

After completion of Azan, it is Sunnah to pray to Allah Ta’la and utter the supplication/doa that has been described in Hadith.
However, there is no proof that at the time of Rasulullah Sallallahualaiyhiwassalam OR later, i.e. the period of Tabe’yeen/Tabe-Tabe’yeen – prayers were held after Azan by raising hands.

Therefore, Do not practice praying by raising hands after Azan.

Anyone who does so (without knowing) must be politely advised to avoid it.
Prayers after Azan must be uttered without raising hands.
May Allah Ta’la provide us ability to refrain from innovatons (Bid’at) and embrace Sunnah.

Note: For clear understanding, we had to modify some of the headings. Please note that these are not complete translation, rather only the summaries. Efforts have been made to make the reader understand the message clearly.

Malfuzats: Part I

Do not lag behind in accomplishing good deeds
If there is interest and enthusiasm in us for performing good deed then it is possible for us to accomplish it. Even if you don’t find any interest of performing good deed start doing it, gradually interest and enthusiasm would boost up and this is how accomplishing good deeds become easier.

Whenever our Murshid (Spiritual Mentor) asks us to do something, we should obey it. “We cannot pay attention to work” – is a lame excuse. We only waste time by neglecting to perform our duties.

The deception of satan
If mind desires to accomplish a particular sin several times, then it is an intrigue of the nafs. And if the mind brings in different evil advice each time that is considered to be the stratagem of satan. Because the soul’s desire is self satisfaction and satan always wants to indulge us in sin.

Aimless life
Those who have aims of life, they lead a promising and prosperous life. They don’t have much suspicion and hesitation in life. On the other hand, people who have thousands of questions and possess doubts and suspicions, lead an aimless life and they don’t have an intention to do anything fruitful.

When the Sahabas (Rd) heard Rasulullah (SM) saying something, they would rush to apply it. They would never ask questions such as: What? and Why? They thought and believed it is unnecessary to ask such questions. Indeed, the fear of Allah Ta’la, desire of Jannah and deep love and obedience towards Rasulullah (SM) made it possible for the Sahabas (Rd) to build up an eventful and active life.

Ulamas and Sufis
Comparing Ulamas with Sufis, Hazrat Thanwi (R) gave more importance to the former, in respect of the society. Because, Ulamas are the frontiers for the society. For this reason, he liked the participation of Ulamas in daily activities rather than being isolated from society. He would think that Ulamas should lead their life for spreading knowledge, counsel people giving proper advice and serve the society through writings. This comment of Thanvi R was indeed an opinion in terms of duty and responsibility. Certainly he possessed a great respect towards the Sufis and Sufism.

How should we perform Ibadat
The friends of Allah Ta’ala (WaliAllahs) never exposed their deeds for showing the people, nor did they expose it for any foul purpose. Rather some WaliAllahs would perform deeds in such ways so that none but only Allah Ta’la could know. Some used to render such tasks in front of public, which were outwardly regarded as sin and unruly. However, in reality those were not sins. Through these tasks, they intended not to be popular in public.

In Thanwi (R)’s opinion, mid-standard must be followed in case of performing Ibadat. Everyone should engage in own task and none should pay much attention to exposure and hiding.

The company of the friends of Allah Ta'la (Learn to hate sins, not the sinner)
Those who disobey and violate the rules of Allah Ta’la must be punished by us, and we should express hatred towards their sins. Simultaneously, we must eradicate arrogance from us and express politeness and courtesy towards people. Naturally the question arises – how can these two very opposite things be developed? An example would clarify it. If there is a verdict against a prince and he has to face death penalty, the executioner will never think that he is more respectful than the prince. As we all know that in respect of status, it is not possible for an executioner is equal to a prince. But the executioner has to perform his duty. He has to punish the prince according to the verdict (as the prince has been found guilty). Today, in the same way, we also tell off and scold people for their sins. It is possible (Allah Ta’la may forbid!) – any time we’ll commit such sins! In the court of this world today I am blaming and proving others to be guilty for their deeds, but for my wrongdoings, I might be caught and punished even more severely by Allah Ta’la as a greater sinner in the life hereafter. Therefore, animosity and hatred should not be towards people, rather these are against the sins.

Freedom is a right
For having food, Hazat Thanwi (R) did not like gathering people from different classes together. Because, in such an environment, people only try to comply with formalities. Each gets trapped in the jail of formalities and loses sovereignty. Hazat Thanwi (R) would always assure his freedom beforehand, whenever he had been invited somewhere. Because, in this way, he would not have to do anything unwilling.

Why today less eating and sleeping are not welcomed
Eating less and sleeping less are very important and popular tasks (in terms of sacrifice), which are found in the Sufia-Ekeram’s syllabus of training. This is not exactly any law imposed by Islam and nor it is the purpose or goal. Rather to control the nafs or vices of oneself, and gaining control over the nafs is possible by undergoing such training.

The former people were physically strong and their nafs also had more ability. So they had to undergo training of less eating and sleeping. People today, are very weak. Today eating less and sleeping less are not found effective. To gain the strength of soul, would it be wise to lose the physical strength?

Maariful Hadith, Kitabur Rikak: No.37 & 38

Hadith From Maariful Hadith of Hazrat Manzoor Nomani R – Kitabur Rikak: No. 37

K’ab ibne ’Iyaz (Radi) narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam has been heard saying:
Every Ummah has a material of trial and test, and my Ummah’s exclusive material of trial is wealth.

Explanation: The Hadith’s meaning is, Till my Nabuwat (which would last till Qiyamah), so much importance would be given to wealth and greed of the same would so much intensify that this would become a great matter of trail and test for the Ummah. (In the Holy Qur’an also, wealth has been called as Fitna – matter of trial and test).
The fact is, if one looks into the history starting from the Prophet’s till our age, one would feel that the greed of earning wealth is only intensifying. Therefore, this is the greatest Fitna of this age, the one which has led many to path against Allah Ta’la and resulted in deprivation from good fortune; rather present scene is such, insurgents against the Sustainer have made wealth the means to spread Dajjal-views all around the world.

Hadith From Maariful Hadith of Hazrat Manzoor Nomani R – Kitabur Rikak: No. 38

K’ab ibne Malek (Radi) narrates, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwa Sallam has been heard saying:
If two hungry wolves are led toward a herd of sheep, the wolves won’t be able to harm those much more than desire of wealth and self esteem would be harmful to man’s deen.

Explanation: Therefore, desire of wealth and self esteem would ruin deen and destroy man much than wolves would be able to harm a sheep herd.

An important manner of Supplication (Dua)

An important manner of Supplication (Dua) from the sayings of
Hazrat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam

When anyone prays (makes dua) among you, he shouldn’t say: “O Allah! If you wish you may pardon me. If you wish you may bless me. If you wish you may give me Rizk.”
Rather he must plead firmly whatever he seeks. (No doubt) Allah Ta’la will do whatever He wishes – none can force Him to act upon. (Bukhari)

Four major deeds for every Muslim

Hazrat Ashraf Ali Thanvi R’s eminent Disciple Dr. Abdul Hai R says
(abridged keeping the main theme):

Among all inward deeds the following four vital. If someone can make a habit to perform these deeds by the Grace of Allah Ta’la all mischievous deeds would be wiped out.

1. Gratitude (Shukr): Always mediate the blessings and bounties of Allah Ta’la on you. Always express gratitude in words by uttering Alhamdulillah from the core of the heart by ruminating how Allah Ta’la has gifted you which you never applied for. This would open the door of being contented with what you have. Definitely this practice would increase peace and happiness of your life – its is a Promise made by Allah Ta’la.

2. Patience (Sabr): Firmly believe that all dangers, worries and difficulties reveal upon us in different forms are as tests. We must keep steadfast on the rulings of Shariah. Utter “Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaiyhi Ra-ji-oon”. Just for reciting this from heart the Holy Quran promised Blessings as reward. Not only so, people uttering these words (“Innalillahi…..) in difficulties and pains had been named as “Muhtadun” – the ones who are on the Right Path!
Remember my dear friend! None of our dangers and difficulties (those reveal) are in our control! So being overwhelmed with those and becoming frustrated is not at all wise. Say two rakats of Salat. Lift your hands – Seek the support of Allah Ta’la – He would definitely help….Allah Ta’la is too Gracious toward his servant.

3. Seek forgiveness (Istegfar): For the wrongdoings whatever we’ve performed in life – seeking forgiveness is a must. However, do not be overwhelmed with your past sins and after performing Tawba (being ashamed and hold firm intention of not performing sins) just keep on performing good deeds and try to compensate as much possible. Lead a humble life. The result of seeking forgiveness is Special blessing from Allah Ta’la. Moreover, he attains Taqwa – becomes fearful to Allah Ta’la and draws closer to Him.

4. Seek refuge (Iste’aza): This worldly life is full of risks and unwanted encounters. Threats of so many enemies, so many dangers and so many adverse situations surround us daily! Therefore seeking refuge of Allah Ta’la becomes obligatory for a servant. However, very unfortunately most of the Muslims today do not realize this. Future is completely in dark. We do not know what are we to face just after a second even. Therefore, a servant must routinely seek Allah Ta’la’s refuge Who is indeed not only the Creator but Protector of all. This would put us directly under the shelter of Allah Ta’la. In the Hadith special supplications (short and easy) have been mentioned. For instance, always recite Sura Iklas, Sura Falaq and Sura Nas – three times daily after Fajr and Magrib prayers. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaiyhiwasallam informs us nothing evil will be able to harm us if you do so!

May Allah Ta’la provide us the ability to perform these deeds with pure intention. And May by His Mighty Grace He may accept our supplications and deeds – Ameen!

How would you pass the coming Ramadan?

If by the Grace of Allah Ta’la you get the coming Ramadan in your life please do the following:

1. Remember Rasulullah Sallallahualaiyhiwasallam advised us to perform FOUR DEEDS in abundance – on this sacred month:
i. Seek forgiveness (Istegfar)
ii. Utter La-Ilaha-Illallah
iii. Seek Paradise (Jannah)
iv. Seek salvation from hell (Jahannam)

2. Recite the Qur'an as much as you can (better make a routine/fix up time to read)

3. Don’t miss Tahajjud before after Sehri

4. Make plenty of Dua (if possible read each Manzil of Monajate Makbul everyday)

5. Fix up some Nafl prayers (Salat) and perform everyday

6. Perform pure Tawba from major sins and seek Allah Ta’la’s Support to be steadfast on Tawba

7. Pray humbly before and after Iftar

8. Make a firm intention not to mix with bad company at all at least just in this month; the time spent with friends only for chatting must be replaced by reading books of Hadith (Riyadus Saleheen/Ma’riful Hadith) or spend those time in good company (who only make you remember about life hereafter)

9. In Ramadan many of us can start performing some compensatory deeds with the intention to carry on even after Ramadan. Such as: those who hasn’t learnt to recite Holy Quran – start learning it correctly; those who don’t know how to perform Wudu and Salat correctly – start learning etc. These learning time will be Inshallah be counted as achieving ‘Knowledge of Deen’ (Ilm).

10. Always remember – may be this is the last Ramadan in your life – indeed one Ramadan would certainly be the final one in your life. So just believe that this is the one and only opportunity in life to seek Allah Ta’la’s Forgiveness and Pleasure.

11. Attend lectures of wise men – they are the Ulamas. Speech of Ulama/Religious Scholars are essential to acquire right knowledge of Islam. If possible start to build up direct and personal relationship with them – and this would be most helpful.
Caution: Don’t attend speech of those Ulama – who are commercial and artificially deliver lectures. Often they attract attention of those who don’t know much about Islam. General people fall into their pitfall and attain all wrong knowledge.

12. Remember that Ramadan has been divided by 3 parts: Rahmah (Bounty), Magfirat (Forgiveness) and Najat (Salvation from Hell). Pass each and everyday with care – pray accordingly with humbleness.

13. Talk less – just don’t utter a single unwanted/unnecessary word. Keep yourself absorbed in the sea of Zikr. Remember Allah Ta’la.

14. Recite Dorud Sharif in abundance.

15. Make a pledge I would see no evil things (intentionally) with these two eyes in this Ramadan.

16. Buy a book for learning Sunnah – Start learning simple and easy Sunnah’s and start practicing those in life.

17. Do not indulge yourself in worldly matters proactively. Rather refrain from reading newspapers, listening radio/news – these tasks only take us toward filthy and many unwanted things, which doesn’t refresh rather re-garbage our mind.

18. Just don’t care and give a damn to people who would come and disturb you. Politely advise them to utilize the time of Ramadan. If they listen to you good, otherwise you just avoid them.

19. Besides performing Amals (Good Deeds) bear in mind one point: Our deeds will never save us. Our deeds are full of mistakes. Allah Ta’la’s Grace and Mercy is what can only Save us. We perform deeds because we had been ordered to do so. We must not look down upon those who are not performing good deeds. It is our duty to invite them towards Right Path modestly. Pray for them to Allah Ta’la. We must not in any circumstances boast of our good deeds. All good deeds can only be performed and accepted if Allah Ta’la grants.

20. If possible, sit in Iteqaf on the last 10 days of Ramadan.

21. All the good deeds must be performed only in the intention to Satisfy Allah Ta’la.
